OxiPurge™ PAA - Peracetic Acid Sanitizer
OxiPurge PAA is a powerful, ready-to-use peracetic acid sanitizer designed for fast, effective microbial control in industrial and food-grade environments. As a high-purity peroxyacetic acid (PAA) sanitizer, OxiPurge PAA delivers broad-spectrum kill against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores while breaking down into harmless byproducts — water, oxygen, and acetic acid. This makes it an excellent choice for CIP systems, surface sanitation, and final rinse applications where residue-free results are critical.

OxiPurge™ Product Description
OxiPurge PAA is a stabilized, high-purity peracetic acid sanitizer (also known as peroxyacetic acid) formulated for fast and reliable microbial control. This powerful PAA sanitizer works through oxidation, rapidly disrupting the cell structure of bacteria, yeasts, molds, and spores.
Unlike chlorine or quaternary ammonium sanitizers, peracetic acid breaks down into water, oxygen, and acetic acid, leaving no harmful or persistent residues. This makes it an excellent choice for Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and final sanitation steps in food and beverage production.
OxiPurge PAA performs effectively across a wide temperature range and maintains strong efficacy even in the presence of organic soils. Its low-foaming profile makes it well-suited for recirculation in automated CIP processes.
For enhanced cleaning performance, OxiPurge PAA pairs effectively with our low-foam surfactant OxiVantage LF™. When used together, the combination improves soil penetration during the cleaning phase and supports more thorough sanitation results in brewery, dairy, and food processing CIP systems.
OxiPurge PAA integrates cleanly into multi-stage sanitation programs and is commonly used as the final sanitizer following alkaline and acid cleaning steps.
Formulation Tips
For general sanitizing of hard, non-porous food-contact surfaces and equipment (including conveyors, tanks, pipelines, fillers, pasteurizers, and CIP systems in meat, poultry, produce, dairy, brewery, winery, and beverage plants):
• Thoroughly clean equipment first (remove gross soil, wash with detergent, and rinse with
potable water).
• Dilute 0.45–1.71 fl. oz. of OxiPurge™ per 5 gallons of potable water (yielding ~130–425
ppm peroxyacetic acid).
• Apply by coarse spray, flood, immersion, or circulation; ensure a minimum 1-minute
contact time.
• Drain thoroughly and allow to air dry (no potable water rinse required on food-contact
surfaces when used as directed).

Frequently Asked Question
FAQ
What is peracetic acid (PAA)?
Peracetic acid, also known as peroxyacetic acid, is a strong oxidizing sanitizer that provides rapid, broad-spectrum microbial control. It is widely used in food processing and industrial applications because it breaks down into water, oxygen, and acetic acid.
Is peroxyacetic acid the same as peracetic acid?
Yes, peroxyacetic acid and peracetic acid are the same compound.
- Peracetic acid is the most commonly used name in industry and product labeling.
- Peroxyacetic acid is the more systematic chemical name.
Both refer to the same molecule: CH₃CO₃H. You will see both names used interchangeably on Safety Data Sheets, product labels, and technical literature.
How is OxiPurge PAA different from chlorine or quat sanitizers?
Peracetic acid works through oxidation rather than chlorination or surface-active mechanisms. It is effective against a broader range of organisms (including spores), performs well in cold water, and leaves no toxic or persistent residues.
Can OxiPurge PAA be used in CIP systems?
Yes. OxiPurge PAA is well-suited for CIP system sanitation due to its low-foaming characteristics and fast action. It integrates cleanly into recirculation processes in breweries, dairies, and food plants.
Does OxiPurge PAA require rinsing after application?
In many food-contact applications, no final potable water rinse is required when used as directed. Always follow label instructions and regulatory guidelines for your specific use case.
Is OxiPurge PAA effective against spores?
Yes. One of the key advantages of peracetic acid sanitizers is their ability to kill bacterial spores at appropriate concentrations and contact times.
What industries commonly use PAA sanitizers?
Peracetic acid is commonly used in food processing, brewing, wineries, dairy, meat and poultry, produce, and pharmaceutical facilities.
What are the lead times and shipping options?
Expect an estimated 7 Day Lead Time on all orders in Drums and Totes. Reach out to a member of our team for more details on Bulk Delivery Lead Times
